TN to unveil youth policy

The Tamil Nadu government would soon unveil a youth policy targeted at overall development of the young in the state.

Chief minister J Jayalalithaa today made an announcement in the Assembly that a separate youth policy would soon be formulated in a bid to ensure overall development of young individuals in Tamil Nadu.

Jayalalithaa also announced the Sports University at Melakottaiyur near Chennai would be equipped with various facilities worth Rs 18.3 crore and announced the creation of Chief Minister State Youth Award.

The award, to be in place from Independence Day this year, will be presented to three men and three women in the age group of 15 and 35, who work for the development of the society. It includes Rs 50,000 cash, citation and a medal. She said sports complexes in Trichy, Kanyakumari, Kanchipuram and Dindigul would be renovated at a cost of Rs 4 crore.
