With the festive season round the corner, Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) has come up with attractive packages to woo tourists from West Bengal as well as from other states.
Speaking in a session for promoting Tamil Nadu as an ultimate tourist destination, M Rajaram, Managing Director of TTDC, said, ""In 2007, 12.67 lakh tourists from Bengal visited Tamil Nadu and we are hoping that the number will increase this year."
For packaging Tamil Nadu as an ultimate tourist destination, TTDC is organising various programmes like 'Virundhinar Potrudham', for making the taxi drivers, auto drivers, tourist guides and hotel owners in Tamil Nadu aware of the various tourist destinations.
Keeping in mind the convenience of the tourists visiting the destinations, TTDC has also come up with teaching various languages to the taxi and auto drivers since there is a problem of communication in the south.
Besides the usual attractions like Mamallapuram, Kancheepuam, Ooty and Kodaikanal, TTDC is promoting new destinations this year like Yercaud, Vedanthangal bird sanctuary, Courtallam, Tiruchendur, Mundanthurai tiger sanctuary and Darasuram.
In case groups from Kolkata was interested to visit unusual destinations, TTDC could arrange for adventure tours like paragliding in Yellagiri, added Rajaram.
TTDC is also offering attractive packages.One day Tirumal Darshan tour for Rs 350, seven day Mookambika tour for Rs 6000 for a couple, seven day Andhara tour for Rs 6350 for a couple and a Tirupati day tour for Rs 1000.
