The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted searches on the official and residential premises of Delhi Urban Development Principal Secretary B Selvaraj and sealed his house in Pondicherry.

The searches were conducted in connection with a case registered in 2010 against some public servants at the Lakshadweep Public Works Department (LPWD).

Selvaraj was the administrator of Lakshadweep during 2006-09. CBI alleged he, with the other public servants, was part of a conspiracy of illegally awarding contracts to a private contractor, Mohammed Kassim, and accepting illegal gratification from him.

CBI said in its statement it had incriminating evidence to establish that Selvaraj received favours. The investigating body added that the contractor spent lakhs of rupees on repair and renovation of a three-storeyed house of Selvaraj in Pondicherry. Investigation is still on in the case.
