Top diplomatic posts set to see new faces

Over the next two months, India is going to field new faces in at least three top diplomatic postings.

Indian High Commissioner to the UK Kamalesh Sharma will vacate India House, the Indian High Commission in London, to walk into Marlborough House, headquarters of the Commonwealth on April 1, to take over as Secretary General of the Commonwealth. His successor, Shivshankar Mukherjee, is to assume charge as India's new High Commissioner in Britain.

Ronen Sen, India's ambassador to the United States, will end his tenure on March 31 after completing a three-year term and a six-month extension. Sen's successor is likely to be a political appointee.

Another important post that will fall vacant towards the end of March will be India's Permanent Representative in the United Nations, currently occupied by senior diplomat Nirupam Sen.
