Torrent plans SPV for Surat power plant

 The Ahmedabad-based Torrent group is planning to set up a special purpose vehicle (SPV) for its upcoming power generation plant at Aakhakhol village near Surat.

 The group had recently hiked the capacity of this plant to 1,000-1,100 mw from the 675 mw planned earlier.

 The Torrent group is responsible for power distribution in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar through its subsidiary, the Ahmedabad Electricity Company (AEC). It also distributes electricity in Surat through the Surat Electricity Company Ltd (SEC).
