Tourism infrastructure, skilled manpower and strong governance are critical for Himachal Pradesh’s survival beyond the incentive year of 2010, opined speakers at the annual session of the Confederation of Indian Industry(CII) held here recently.
Vikram Bakshi, member, CII, said the development in Himachal could happen only after adopting a dual focus on tourism and the industry.
“While the industry will be limited to the plains and the industrial estates, only tourism can generate jobs in the interior parts of the state.”
“Satellite townships and airports were needed near industrial areas,” said Rajendra Guleria, outgoing chairman of the CII northern region.
