With an aim to attract Chinese participation in the forthcoming Tourism Summit here and its investment in the sector, the Union Tourism Ministry organised a roadshow in Shanghai, the government said today.
"Never was there a more favourable time to invest in India than now with strong macro-economic indicators and the government's commitment to investment facilitation like never before," Tourism Secretary Vinod Zutshi said while addressing the event yesterday.
Close to 20 "prominent" investors participated in the event which was part of roadshows being conducted in different parts of the world to promote participation of investors at the Incredible India Tourism Investors summit, to be held here from September 21-23, an official release said.
The Tourism Ministry is organising the summit in partnership with Tourism Finance Corporation of India and the CII.
Zutshi said the summit will bring together over 20 states of the country unveiling more than 1,000 projects, ranging from infrastructure to those specific to various themes of tourism sector like hospitality, medical, entertainment and cruise.
In the "true spirit of Ease of Doing business", states will offer single window for foreign and domestic investors, he said.

Prakash Gupta, Consul General of India in Shanghai, stressed that India must have a policy for attracting Chinese tourists and investors.
He also pointed out the "immense synergy" that exists between the two Asian neighbours in tourism sector and how Chinese travellers have become the highest spenders in the world.
