Various trade unions and labour groups of the factories located in the Gurgaon-Manesar- Dharuhera-Bawal industrial belt are planning to hold a joint protest rally tomorrow in front of Maruti Suzuki India's Manesar plant in support of striking workers of the carmaker.
With no signs of an end to the six-day-long strike, all the unions are holding gate meetings in their respective factories today.
"There is no sign of positive development to the ongoing stalemate at Manesar. The management and the government are not taking any initiative," AITUC Secretary D L Sachdev told PTI, adding that tomorrow's protest is to show solidarity with the striking workers of MSI.
A public meeting will be held at 3 pm in front MSI's Manesar plant gate and it will be followed by a rally in IMT, Manesar, he added.
CITU Haryana State President Satvir Singh said all the unions in this industrial belt supporting the strike have decided to hold gate meetings in their companies today.
Tomorrow's protest meeting and the rally is supported by trade unions such CITU, AITUC, HMS and AIUTUC, he added.
Yesterday, all big national trade unions cutting across party lines— AITUC, CITU, HMS, INTUC, BMS, AIUTUC, TUCC, AICCTU and UTUC— lashed out at the company management, accusing it of "high-handed provocative activities" and said not allowing casual workers to join duty is "an absolute act of vengeance".
Workers at MSI's Manesar plant went on a stay-in strike on Friday afternoon, completely affecting production at the plant, demanding the reinstatement of over 1,000 casual staff and 44 permanent employees, who were suspended during the standoff that started on August 29.
