Trai Blames It On Firms

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) today defended its decision to defer the implementation of the new tariffs till May 1 and blamed operators for filing alternate tariffs that did not comply with the prescribed interconnect charges.

The telecommunications regulator said most operators had filed their alternative tariff plans so late that it did not get sufficient time to study them and inform customers about the new tariffs. The clarification comes after the telecommunications industry termed Trai
