The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) Chairman Dr J S Sarma today said bring about a consultation paper on the mobile value added services (VAS) industry, that may lead to a regulatory regime soon.

"We will look into these issues and soon come out with consultation paper to address them," said Sharma according to a press release by Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI).

Speaking at an IAMAI summit, Sarma said that the soon-to-be announced National Broadband Policy (NBP) will have provisions of extending broadband connectivity to all villages in India having a population of over 500 people.

"The policy will aim to provide the backhaul processes or core access points required for capturing and delivering data," he said. The Trai chairman also said that a national agency will be set up to help the smooth roll-out of the national broadband policy.
