Trai issues outsourcing guidelines to operators |

Following a number of complaints from subscribers on procedures adopted by telecom operators for collection of outstanding dues, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has issued guidelines for recovery of dues. This follows a similar move by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), which had issued guidelines for telemarketers in the country. The regulator has put the onus on the operator in case of customer complaints (like harassment by recovery agents), even though the service providers are outsourcing recovery to third party companies. |
