In an attempt to boost the use of very-small aperture terminals (VSAT), the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) has recommended lowering of the licence fee for captive VSATs by 50 per cent, from Rs 16,000 to Rs 8,000 per annum.

Trai has also suggested increasing the permitted speed from 512 KBPS to 2 MBPS to facilitate high-speed applications.
