Transco focuses on power theft by high-end users

 Interacting with the department officials through video conference, he said that energy audit system would be implemented at all the 1100-odd mandal headquarters and major panchayats to study the quantum of energy pumped into the system and billed.

 He mentioned that intensive energy audit done by the power distribution utilities in 114 major towns and municipalities had yielded excellent results with commercial losses coming down to 10 per cent from 18 per cent.

 Transco registered about 2.5 lakh cases of power theft in the last 3 years as part of its efforts to eliminate power theft in the state.

 The joint managing director appealed to the employees of the vigilance and operation wing to take pledge to further strive hard to eliminate the power theft to safeguard the interests of the 1.5 crore genuine electricity consumers in the state.
