The state is headed for more power cuts over the next few days due to shutdown of different power generating units with an aggregate capacity of 730 MW, out of the total available capacity of 6,700 MW, owing to planned and unplanned maintenance works.
While APTransco has been supplying about 140 million units of power per day, this will be reduced by about 15 million units due to 730 MW reduction in the capacity availability.
Announcing that load reliefs (read as power cuts) are being availed of whenever required throughout the state to properly manage the grid, APTransco said that the 500 MW unit 2 at NTPC Simhadri power station was taken out of service on Sunday midnight for carrying out guarantee tests and it was expected to back into service on February 20.
