Travel expo will showcase Mysore

Mysore's leisure and tourist attractions are being showcased in detail here on October 14-15 by the Confederation of Indian Industry, Mysore zone.

Mysore Travel Mart 2004, being organised for the first time in Mysore after the success of such travel marts earlier in Hyderabad, Jaipur, Uttaranchal and Lucknow, will project Mysore globally, offering a general overview of the varied options available in Mysore -"" heritage, wildlife, spirituality, yoga, adventure, medical and ayurveda centres and visits to the tourist places.

The maiden edition of the mart will comprise an exclusive conference-cum-B2B expositions for all constituents of the travel and tourism industry with the aim of providing a platform to network with their counterparts from across India and abroad.

The conference will focus on Mysore's potential as a preferred destination.

Among those speaking at the conference will be central and state ministers, senior officials, key personalities from national and international tourism promotion organisations and travel experts.

The CEOs will address issues concerning tourism and chalk out an action plan for promoting tourism.

Cultural evenings, food festivals and guided tours for tour operators are included in the itinerary.

The exhibitors' profile covers national and international tourism promotional organisations, state and central government tourism departments, tour operators, travel agents, hotel chains, transport organisers, adventure-amusement tour operators, banks, yoga and sports tourism, ayurveda and healthcare promoters, educational institutions, hospitality industry and travel literature publishers.

The two-day mart, another effort to sell Mysore as a major tourist-destination, will be inaugurated by Union tourism minister Renuka Choudhury at the Yashaswi Convention Centre, on the Hunsur-Mercara Road.

About 50 exhibitors concerned with travel and tourism and 200 delegates from across India are expected to attend the mart. The exhibition will be open for public from the post-lunch session on October 14.
