Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Communist Party of India(Marxist)-(CPI-M) members today clashed in the Lok Sabha over the alleged suicide attempt by a youth outside Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee's residence in Kolkata.
During a discussion on the Railway Budget, Ramachandra Dome of the CPI-M alleged that a youth, Prasoon Dutta, had yesterday attempted to end his life after a promise for a railway job to him did not materialise.
Reacting to the allegation, Banerjee denied that such an incident had taken place. “This is absolutely concocted and false,” she shot back.
Left-ruled West Bengal is going to polls in April-May and Banerjee is projected as the Chief Minister candidate of Congress-Trinamool combine.
Dome alleged that Trinamool cadres were being inducted in the railways and “fraudulent employment” practices were being followed.
Banerjee said, “He can speak anything about the railways but this allegation is totally wrong.”

Trinamool Congress members strongly objected to Dome's remarks, with senior party leader Sudip Bandopadhyay describing the Left MP as anti-Bengal.
He was supported by other Trinamool members including Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar.
Dutta, a resident of Bansberia in Hooghly district, had visited Banerjee's Harish Chatterjee Street residence yesterday along with a group of youths seeking job in the railways.
He allegedly set himself on fire in front of Banerjee's after failing to get a job in the railways and was rushed to MR Bangur Hospital with 90 per cent burns.
