Extremism in the state could be contained to a large extent if tribals were given a portion of the reserved forest land, he told reporters on the sidelines of a seminar organised by CII.
Alleging that a neighbouring nation was exporting terrorists to Tripura, the Chief Minister said the state government had taken up a holistic approach to curb terrorism.
He also said that 50 per cent of the budgetary allocation in the state would be earmarked for tribal development.
Sarkar said 40,000 hectares of land in Tripura was currently under rubber plantation. In this regard, he said the state government was in the process of setting up a rubber park on 50 acres of land. Another 50 acres would be earmarked for research and development activity.
He also said that the state government was keen to have connectivity with Chittagong port in Bangladesh.
