Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president K Chandrasekhara Rao has withdrawn his " fast- unto -death" programme within two days after he launched his hunger strike.

Rao, who was arrested hours before he was to launch fast-unto-death on Sunday, continued his hunger strike in the Khammam sub jail. He has been shifted to a local hospital on Monday evening where he broke his fast by drinking a glass of fruit juice.

Meanwhile, normal life was disrupted in several parts of the Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh on Monday due to a bandh call given by TRS in protest against the arrest of Rao.

The state road transport corporation cancelled its bus services in many places including Hyderabad, Medak, Karimnagar, Adilabad, Nizamabad and Warangal. Many educational institutions in the state capital and other areas remained closed.

The situation remained tense in Osmania University (OU).
