U'khand wants to revive Jamrani, Song projects

Focusing on the power sector, Uttarakhand Chief Minister R P Nishank has launched efforts to revive two ambitious — Jamrani and Song multipurpose projects.

Nishank yesterday met Union Water Resource Minister Pawan Bansal in New Delhi and sought central funding for both the projects. Song project is proposed on the river Song at Tehri and Dehra Dun districts, while Jamrani is proposed on the river Gola in Kumaon region.

“The Chief Minister met Union Water Resource Minister and talked about the revival of the two projects,” an official statement here said. For the two projects, the government has also decided to hire a consultant. Talks are on with companies like IL&FS in this regard. The most ambitious project among the two is 30-Mw Jamrani project on the river Gola in Kumaon region where an estimated Rs 927.93 crore is proposed.
