UCO Bank targets credit flow of Rs 7 cr

This is to be done over the next three years for a village in Orissa

The loan scheme will benefit about 11,000 people living in the village", BM Mittal, executive director of UCO Bank said at the launch of the bank's Village Development Plan at Banamalipur, about 15 km from Bhubaneswar. He was accompanied by Biswa Bhusan Harichandan, the state minister for rural development, industries and law.

 

The objective of the Village Development Plan is to make available all the benefits of banking to the villagers at their doorstep thereby leading to the all round development of the village, Mittal added.

In all, UCO Bank has adopted three villages under its Village Development Plan including the Bhakar Sahi village. UCO bank's Village Development Plan kicked off with the adoption of Ariyakudi village in Tamil Nadu and the bank subsequently adopted a village in West Midnapore district of West Bengal.
The credit requirement of a given village under the Village Development Plan is assessed by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development in consultation with the lead bank of the region.
