The London-based Certified Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), engaged in offering international quality qualification in management accountancy, plans to work closely with Indian employers. This is aimed at expanding its student base and upgrading its course content, as well. |
CIMA's representative Swati Ghangurde told Business Standard that unlike the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India's course which is practice-oriented, CIMA's course content will stress upon knowledge and skills expected of senior managers. |
"CIMA's strength lies in providing high class qualification and support to management accountants. In today's age of globalisation and intense competition, chartered management accountants are fully prepared to meet the needs of businesses and ultimately add to the bottomline," she said. |
The function of a management accountant largely consists of a constant review of all aspects of the business his organisation is engaged in. It is the management accountant who can offer innovative strategies based on these reviews. |
"With a greater stress on linking domestic businesses with the world scene, it will be necessary for corporates to arm their managers in order to mould strategic thinking. CIMA's courseware has been developed keeping in mind that corporate managers have to be empowered to respond effectively to this need," she said. |
