The Union budget for 2009-10, presented yesterday, was 'frustrating' for the Northeast, Tripura's finance minister Badal Chowdhury today said.

Chowdhury criticised Union finance minister Pranab Mukherjee for not allocating adequate funds for the Department of the North-Eastern Region (DONER).

"Great injustice has been done to the DONER as the budgetary allocation remained the same as that of the last fiscal which will affect the ongoing development projects in the region," he told reporters here today.

He said the budget was likely to lead to inflation as there was a wide gap between income and estimated expenditure. There is clear indication that the government will sell many public sector units as a result of which thousands of employees will be rendered unemployed.
