West Bengal Labour Minister Purnendu Bose on Thursday asked the trade unions to seek government intervention for settling unresolved issues with the company managements.

"The government is an important stakeholder in maintaining peaceful industrial relations and I urge the trade unions to seek government intervention in case of unresolved disputes with the management and not to resort to work stoppages and strikes," he said at a seminar organised by CII here.

He also said that the managements should not declare lock-outs at factories without talking to the government.

The minister said West Bengal would promote harmonious relations between the management and the workers for a holistic growth in the state.

"The recent unfortunate incidents showed that mutual understanding between the two parties is indeed needed for harmonious industrial relations," he added.
