Union Labour Minister Oscar Fernandez had convened a meeting with the central trade unions on Monday to resolve the issue. The unions stuck to their demand that the recommendations of the Parliamentary Standing Committee should be incorporated. The meeting remained inconclusive as the government is keen to bring the Bill in its present form and without any change.
The next meeting between the two sides has been fixed on May 5. Till that day, the government will not bring the Bill.
The Left wants the government to incorporate, among other things, a dedicated fund for the welfare schemes and an administrative authority to implement the various insurance and pension facilities for the unorganised sector labour.
