To improve the infrastructure in the key industrial areas of Lucknow, the Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation (UPSIDC) has allotted Rs 1 crore for their maintenance and upkeep.

The four industrial areas are the Amausi Industrial Area, Sarojini Nagar Industrial Area, Kursi Road Industrial Area and Chinhat Industrial Area.

The total land under these four industrial areas is 1,000 acres.

In this regard, a presentation was made by the Indian Industries Association (IIA), taking into account problems like the poor condition of roads, drainage problems, inadequate street lights, and complete neglect of the green belt and parks in the surrounding areas.

“The main topic of discussion was the restoration of infrastructural facilities in industrial areas in and around Lucknow. It aims to provide suitable infrastructural facilities to these areas, which will fuel the industrial and economic growth of the city,” Rajat Mehra, chairman, IIA (Lucknow chapter), told Business Standard.

He said S K Verma, managing director, UPSIDC, had promised that steps would soon be taken on the above.

Mehra said the UPSIDC had drafted a proposal to hand over the charge of maintenance and upkeep of the green belt to the IIA.

“As far as the drainage condition is concerned, the corporation plans to form a coordination committee with the irrigation department to take up the issue,” Mehra said.

Further, plans are on the anvil to increase the industrial area at Kursi road from the present 300 acres to 800 acres.
