UP Textile Minister Jagdish Narayan Rai expressed his desire in this regard at a meeting with Jammu and Kashmir Agriculture and Sericulture Minister Abdul Aziz Zargar here, official sources said.
Jagdish stressed on a mechanism for uniform prices of cocoon among north-western states besides providing marketing support to the farmers at the time of distress sales.
However, Zargar requested the UP minister to send a team of officers to discuss the issue in detail and frame modalities.
Zargar said the matter needs to be discussed with the Centre apart from parliamentary team visiting the state shortly.
He said interests of small and marginal farmers would be taken care of at every level while adopting uniform price strategy in north-western states.
