UP offers sops to builders interested in setting up townships

In a bid to attract private investment in the housing sector, the Uttar Pradesh government has decided to offer incentives such as single window clearence and rebate on stamp duty on land purchases to developers willing to set up new townships in the state.

The state government has set a target of attracting Rs 10,000 crore investment under its new township scheme.

At a meeting held here last evening, Housing and Urban Planning Minister Naseemuddin Siddiqui said, "builders, who proposed to develop new township in the area of 1000 acre or more will get single window clearence and rebate in stamp duty on cost of land."

 

He asked the housing department officials to invite developers from other states and give detailed information about the scheme to them.

The minister also said notices should be issued to developers not taking interest in the hi-tech city scheme and their land allottment should be cancelled.

Siddiqui said the government had fixed December 31 as the cut-off date for construction of houses under the  Kanshiram Urban Poor Housing Scheme.
