Uttar Pradesh stamp and registration revenues in the first five months of the current financial year have been 20 per cent more than the set target for the period.
Against the cumulative target of Rs 2,850 crore fixed for April-August 2011, the total collections stand at over Rs 3,436 crore. This is 31 per cent more compared to the same period last year.
For 2011-12 financial year, the consolidated target for the department has been set at Rs 7,494 crore. In August 2011 alone, the monthly collections were Rs 914 crore against the target of Rs 580 crore.
According to official sources, Gautam Budh Nagar stood first in revenue collection during August with 300 per cent revenue collections, followed by Lalitpur, Mau, Chandauli and Ferozabad.
Recently, institutional finance and stamp, court fee and registration minister Lalji Varma had directed officials to launch special campaign for achieving targets in districts, where collections were below targets.
The department is also giving due emphasis on resolution of the large number of pending stamp cases. This year so far, over 13,000 such cases had been settled of the total pending list of almost 25,000.
To tide over uncertainties in revenue collection, officials have been advised to try to over-achieve the target in successive months, so as to pre-empt any backlog that may arise due to unforeseen periodic dip in collections.
