US firm inks an MoU with Haryana

A delegation led by the Haryana CM to US and Canada makes a pitch for FDI in the state of Connecticut

On his maiden overseas visit as the Chief Minister of Haryana, Manohar Lal Khattar has been able to rope in the Connecticut-based firm United Technologies to expand its operations in Haryana.

The Chief Minister signed an MoU with the senior company officials in US for setting up a facility to manufacture air conditioners in an area of eight acres in Gurgaon.

The unit will be in addition to the existing facilities United Technologies already has in Gurgaon.

During his nine-day tour to US and Canada, the business delegation led by the Haryana Chief Minister will visit New York, Washington D.C., San Francisco, Vancouver and Toronto.

 

According to an official spokesperson of Haryana Government, some American companies have expressed interest in establishing solar power projects in Haryana during their interactions with the Chief Minister.

"Interest has also been shown by investors to partner the government in areas of IT and service providers. The investors are very keen about the kind of opportunities available in Haryana. A delegation of potential investors in auto and precision engineering sector from New York will also visit Hrayana early next year.

The CM is expected to hold discussions with senior executives of major IT companies like Google, Facebook, Oracle and IBM on his visit to San Francisco to spur the business activity in Gurgaon, the IT capital of Haryana.

The new industrial policy in Haryana, announced as 'Enterprises Promotion Policy 2015' by the BJP government projected at ensuring ease of doing business, enhancing competitiveness of the industry, balanced regional growth and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises has been one of the key highlights of the CM's addresses to the US business community. Highlighting the measures taken to attract foreign investment, he said 10 per cent industrial plots have been reserved specifically for NRIs and foreign investors.

The state government is also setting up a 'Startup Ware House Business Incubation Centre in Gurgaon' to help young entrepreneurs.

The Chief Minister is accompanied by the Industry Minister of Haryana, Captain Abhimanyu in the 19 member delegation that would return on 24 August.

The delegation would have meetings with US India Business Council and Canada India Business Council.
