The United States Indian American Chamber of Commerce (USIACC) on Wednesday opened its India headquarters in Bangalore. Set up in 2004 in Washington DC, the USIACC aims to accelerate trade and investment between the two countries and strengthen relations between Indian and US businesses.

Announcing the opening of its HQ here at a press meet, USIACC chairman K V Kumar said, "Through our office here we hope to further enable Indian and American enterprises in forging business partnerships as well as work with the governments and related agencies in both countries."

Understanding the need for more structured and cooperative efforts, USIACC has signed a memorandum of understanding with Assocham in Delhi recently to leverage business ties between India and the US.

USIACC national president Bharat Bhargava said that the chamber will help small and medium enterprises in the US to forge business ties with Indian companies. The main focus will be on food processing, textiles and outsourcing sectors. Kumar said that the chamber plans to open its branch offices in Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai.
