US indices perk up ahead of holiday; ADRs shine

The US indices gained in a shortened pre-holiday sessions. The Dow Jones industrial average gained 78 points to 11,228. The Nasdaq added 18 points to 2190. The US markets are closed today on account of Independence holiday.

Indian ADRs finished with smart gains. Satyam spurted over 4% to $34.52. ICICI Bank surged 3.8% to $24.54. Patni Computers, Wipro, Dr.Reddy's, MTNL and VSNL were up 1-3% each.
