Pecans, a nut grown in the southern states of USA, will soon be in the Indian market.

The Southern United States Trade Association (SUSTA), a non-profit trade development association of America, has chalked out an ambitious plan of promoting the sale and consumption of the nut in India.

The association, comprising the departments of agriculture of 15 southern US states, has appointed Imports 2 India (i2i) to spearhead its marketing and promotional activities.

The Indian consulting firm is currently on a promotional campaign to reach out to importers, retailers, distributors and high-end consumers.

SUSTA's assistant director John Curry Key told newspersons that so far more than 50 importers from various parts of India and several elite consumers have shown interest in the product.
