The US today evinced keen interest for joint development programmes in Orissa's mining, power, port development, education and business relations.
"I enquired from the Chief Minister about what kind of opportunities exist for USA for joint development programmes in mining, power, port development, business relations and education," US Ambassador to India Timothy J Roemer told reporters here after meeting CM Naveen Patnaik.
Stating that the US had been undertaking water and sanitation programmes in Orissa, Roemer said they would like to replicate it in other places in future.
A water and sanitation programme along with a programme for women self-help group was being implemented by USAID though local agencies at a city slum.
Describing Orissa as a "wonderful and hospitable" state, Roemer said his visit was highly successful.
During his two-day tour of the state, the US Ambassador visited several places, including a tribal school, a museum, a temple and a slum cluster.
