The cabinet has decided to lower the prices of petroleum products following the recent hike by the centre, Chief Minister B C Khanduri told reporters here.
However, Khanduri said no concession would be given on the commercial gas cylinders.
"It is ridiculous that at one hand, the centre is increasing the prices of petroleum products, on the other, it is asking the states to lower the prices. Anyway keeping all constrains in mind, we have decided to give relief to people," he said.
The relief will put an extra burden to the tune of Rs 50 crore annually on the state exchequer, Khanduri said. The new prices, Khanduri said, will come into force with immediate effect.
