The Uttarakhand government today said it was ready for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe or any other investigating agency related to the alleged irregularities highlighted in the new Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report.
Responding to Opposition’s criticism over the CAG report, Parliamentary Affairs and Planning Minister Prakash Pant said the government would present the CAG report before the Public Account Committee for further action. The CAG report was last week tabled before the state Assembly, highlighting irregularities in several departments and during last year’s Maha Kumbh Mela. However, Pant said most cases where irregularities were found, happened during 2002-07 when Congress was in power.
Pant’s statement came after Opposition leader Harak Singh Rawat said Congress would conduct a CBI report on all the alleged irregularities in case it comes to power in the next Assembly elections due early next year.
