Vadodara Municipal Corporation would send its proposal for inclusion in the list of cities identified for the third phase of Centre's smart city project on June 30, officials said.
"The revised proposal for inclusion in the third list of smart cities would be submitted to the central government on June 30," Vadodara Municipal Commissioner Vinod Rao said.
"If chosen, the city would be granted Rs 500 crore in the next five years. The project guidelines include city retrofitting, pan-city initiative for smart solutions and some of these features have already been initiated in the city, so we are better positioned in many aspects," he said.
The civic body has prepared the revised proposal through PwC India, upon data collection on various aspects such as water supply, power supply, sanitation including solid waste management, mobility and public transport, affordable housing, IT connectivity and digitisation, safety and security of citizens, health and education, he added.
Vadodara, known for being the cultural capital of Gujarat, is home to several corporate giants and housing projects.
