Vibrant Gujarat caravan steps into Bengal

According to the organisers, the event being organised for the first time under Chief Minister Anandiben Patel is likely to see participation from 100 CEOs of the Fortune 500 club

Gujarat government would soon introduce comprehensive policies on industry, IT, e-governance and public private partnership to make the state business friendly Nitinbhai Patel, health and family welfare minister said here on Thursday.

Days after state finance minister Amit Mitra conducted a road show in the national capital to woo investors to Bengal Global Business Summit, the Vibrant Gujarat caravan landed in the city for the first time since its inception. According to the organisers, the event being organised for the first time under Chief Minister Anandiben Patel  is likely to see participation from 100 CEOs of the Fortune 500 club.
 

“This platform is not only a summit for attracting investors to Gujarat bu a stage where all the countries can showcase their strength and business areas,” said Patel.

A week ago, the summit got a huge boost as the US confirmed to partner the event, joining the ranks of Japan, Australia, Canada, Singapore, South Africa, UK and the Netherlands. Heads of the states of all eight partner countries have been invited and at least two or three are expected to participate. The organising committee also has indicated they were awaiting official confirmation from the office of the United Nations on the presence of its secretary general Ban Ki Moon.

Terming West Bengal a “hosiery hub,” He also requested the textile-industry community of the state to come and take advantage of the export policy of Gujarat.

On being asked why industrialist are more interested to set up business in Gujarat, the minister said that along with resources the government has to provide parallel infrastructure to the willing parties.

He added that though Gujarat government has stopped acquiring land for industrial projects but adequate help for land acquisition will be provided to any one who is willing set up industry which would aid public development. The 7th Vibrant Gujarat summit will be held in Ahmedabad from January 11-13.
