The school might be coming up with 5 year dual-degree programme that will integrate 4 years Bachelor of Technology , BTech (honours) and 2 years Master of Business Management (MBM) ""thus saving a year and tuition fees for the students. |
The institute is also in talks for introducing a two-year full time 'tailor made' Masters of Business Administration (MBA) course exclusively for armed forces of the rank commissioned officers "" candidates need to be sponsored for this course. |
Explaining about part-time post-graduate diploma programme in management (PGDBM) for working executives in Kolkata, Bhubaneshwar and Kharagpur, Kalyan Chakraborty, dean of Vinod Gupta School of Management (VGSOM), IIT Kharagpur, said the unique course would offer contact-cum-distant mode of instruction and learning. Students would get pre-recorded audio visual lectures for self study and class room teaching during the weekend. |
This PGDBM course has 4-semester in a span of two years with one industrial project in the summer quarter. |
The number of seat sanctioned PGDBM was 25 for each centre at a cost of Rs 1.80 lakh for each student. Selection would be through Joint Management Entrance Test (JMET) followed by usual group discussion and interviews. |
VGSOM, IIT Kharagpur will be expanding operations using latest technology as prime partner of Indian Space Research Organization for its Edu Sat link, a satellite link exclusively for distant learning. |
Chakraborty said that to enrich and expand their research and development, the school has set up a research and case development cell that would contribute to the case study method of teaching. |
VGSOM, IIT Kharagpur has recently collaborated with University of California for conducting exchange of faculty and students programmes. |
The institute has already tied up with Creighton University and University of Nebraska, Omaha for such interaction. |
