There was a good chance that the Vodafone dispute would be resolved soon, Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia said at London's Blavatnik School of Government, where he was speaking to students about 'India's Challenges Ahead'.
He underlined that India was a good bet for foreign investment. "The Vodafone case did not do us any favour. My personal view is they knew very well that it (Vodafone's purchase of the Indian operations of Hutchinson Whampoa in 2007) was chargeable to tax, but they decided to take a calculated risk."
