VSP bags best safety award

Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) has bagged the prestigious steel minister's 'Trophy for Best Safety Performance for the Year 2002.' The steel plant authorities received this information today from the joint committee on safety, health and environment in the steel industry (JCSSI).

VSP has the distinction of winning this award five times earlier and with this latest one, it has made a record of winning this award for six times in a short span of 13 years, according to a VSP press release.

Apart from the best safety performance award, the steel plant has bagged several other awards including SAIL chairman's Silver Plaque for safety and Ispat Suraksha Puraskar for percentage reduction in accidents during 2002.
