Icrisat has enabled the Philippine National Agricultural Research and Extension System to establish an open academy for agriculture on the lines of its Virtual University for the Semi-Arid Tropics (VUSAT).
Icrisat director-general William Dar is one of the signatories to the MoU signed for launching the academy at Manila.
Hosted by Philippine Rice Research Association, and supported by two international institutions and a group of universities, the academy will link virtually with farmers through a blend of Internet and conventional communication tools.
