Earlier only confirmed tickets were available through the service. The facility is available on the e-ticketing website www.Irctc.Co.In of Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Cooperation (IRCTC), a PSU under the Ministry of Railways.
For refund of the tickets in the waiting list, customers need not apply to IRCTC for cancellation. The tickets will be cancelled online by railways and refunds credited to user or agents accounts automatically, an official release said.
The scheme has got a very good response from the public, it said, adding IRCTC has been booking around 15,000 waitlisted e-tickets per day.
