Wall St holds gain; ADRs mixed; Oil spikes

US stocks pared gains towards the close on account of spike in curde oil prices. The Dow Jones industrial average added 20 points to 11,689. The Nasdaq was up two points to 2263.

Indian ADRs ended on a mixed note. HDFC Bank rallied 2.3% to $60.77. Infosys and ICICI Bank advanced nearly 2% each to $48.24 and $30.19, respectively. VSNL dropped 2.3% to $17.20. 

The crude oil futures for November delivery surged 3% ($1.95) to settle at $62.96 per barrel on the NYMEX.
