Waltair sees 12% rise in revenues this fiscal

The Waltair Division of the East Coast Railway is expecting revenue earnings of Rs 1,400 crore this fiscal, registering a 12 per cent growth when compared to last year.
 
"During the last fiscal, our division's total earnings was Rs 1,250 crore. This fiscal, our earnings touched this figure by the end of January. In fact, by the end of March, it will cross the Rs 1,400 crore mark," V N Tripathi, the outgoing divisional railway manager, Waltair Division, told media persons here on Tuesday.
 
"During the last fiscal, the division transported 29.4 million tonne of different cargos. This fiscal, the division transported 25.3 million tonne by the end of January," he said. While in parcel movement, the division registered a 101 per cent growth in the first 10 months of the present fiscal.
 
The division has also been undertaking developmental works worth Rs 27 crore including the construction of the new coaching complex at Visakhapatnam, additional platforms and other works, Tripathi added.
