WB decides to allow 3 year loan moratorium to potato farmers

The state government has decided to allow a three year loan moratorium to potato farmers in West Bengal who are making losses on account of an over-production and lack of market access.

State agriculture minister, Naren De said, "Besides a Rs40 cr transport subsidy announced for potato traders in August, we have now decided to allow the loan moratorium as a breather to the farmers."

He,however, could not give out the aggregate loan amount. State Bank of India is the lead banker, the minister informed.
