WB govt ready for talks with Oppposition

The West Bengal government is ready for talks with the Opposition, said chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee at a hurriedly convened press meet.

The chief minister however has demanded the presence of Mamata Banerjee at the talks on Singur later during the day.

Meanwhile, Mamata Banerjee said from the dharna manch that the National Highway is clear from obstructions and no political speech would be made today.

The governor had said earlier in the day that the state government had laid down some demands like the National Highway be cleared from obstructions as per the Calcutta High Court directive to the NHAI.

 

The state government had also demanded that the dharna be put on hold during the discussions.
