The World Bank has decided to resume healthcare funding for India after more than a year's gap following negotiations with the Indian government which resulted in a plan to ensure greater transparency and accountability in healthcare projects. This will result in an inflow of $662 million towards three projects. |
The bank has also lifted the suspension of its financing for the Mumbai Urban Transport Project, involving an assistance of about Rs 1,031 crore. |
The bank's decision to resume funding of healthcare projects came after the government mounted intensive efforts to clarify misgivings it might have had, a finance ministry release said. |
