Defence Minister A K Antony today expressed satisfaction over the "maturity" shown by people in reaction to the Ayodhya verdict, but said we may have to wait for the final judgement of the Supreme Court on the issue.

"The (High) Court verdict is not final. It has ordered for a status quo for three months. Already both sides have declared that they are going to the Supreme Court. So, ultimately we will have to wait for the final judgement of the Supreme Court," he said.

Antony was talking to reporters on the sidelines of the foundation day celebrations of Department of Defence Accounts.

The Defence Minister was asked to react on yesterday's verdict pronounced by the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court on the Ayodhya title suit.

"The way the country reacted to the judgement shows the maturity of our people in a difficult situation... Till now, things are peaceful. I am glad about that," he said.
