There is an acute short-supply of professional welders, technicians and welding engineers in the country and the situation is likely to aggravate further unless educational institutions take concrete steps in creating more professionals in the field, said the president of the Indian Institute of Welding Baldev Raj at the inauguration ceremony of National Welding Seminar 2002 in Kolkata today.
Similar views were expressed by almost all speakers at the seminar.
