Western Coalfields In Pact With Uk Firm

Public sector Western Coalfields Ltd (WCL) has entered into a contract with Joy Mining Machinery Ltd of the UK for introduction of continuous mining technology at its Tandsi underground mine in Kanhan in Chhindwara district of Madhya Pradesh.

Tandsi will be the second mine in the country after Chirimiri of South Eastern Coalfields Ltd (SECL), where continuous mining technology will be used. The company seeks to improve productivity levels from a dismal 0.82 tonne per manshift to over 30 tonne by using the modern technology.
